Im about to draw something for NGSBT08

Posted by Hammi Jul. 15, 2008 @ 12:17 PM EDT

But i dunno exactly what to make. I could need suggestions for what to draw along side with my own idea. The best idea(s) will be chosen as a part of my entry and will be showcased in front of millions here on NG. And i will let Luis know in person about who helped me doing it, your username(s) that is :)

Hell i might even reject em all if i dont like em, but we'll see about that! Be prepared on possible declination, thats what im tellin ya. Also if no suggestions, well oh silly me i was hoping i could depend on you NGers.

Also heres a character reference sketch i did for a comic im organizing at ZM.

Update: im done with my entry thanks to my good friend Psi43 so all of you who didnt bother or cared, fuck y'all. Offer closed.

As some of you may know, the second coming has arrived in the form of a video game by Anonymous: 4Chan Fandango. If you don't already know about the game, read up here: http://4chanfandango.co.nr/

I would just love to get evolved into developing my own styles like you do but it's just the paitence I having a hard time of devoloping.

Hm i think im gettin what you mean. Heres a tip: grab a sketchbook (if you dont have any, buy one), sit down and sketch and doodle nonstop. You also need to carry it around. Study some new techniques and try em. After doodling a ton, lay back and relax. Gather your thoughts and plan on how and where to improve. Then try again much later. Gradually you will have new and improved lines and stuff, hell even a new line structure on your doodles. Just keep it all in mind and keep doodling in your sketchbook. Time will pass by fast and you will have a whole gallery of rough drawings, some of them old and some of them a lot improved than the last time.

Basically sometimes there are times where you improve a lot in short time, and sometimes you improve just a lil bit. Just stay busy and it will all go automatically by itself.

well said hammi ( the tips to Princeflea ) :)

I was thinking about NgSBT, but I decided to wait until next year since I've only been on NG for a couple months. Plus, I didn't think I was orginal enough or skilled enough for NGSBT.

but it does sound cool :P!

Aug. 17, 2008 | 3:13 PM Hammi responds:

Well imo you would be good for NGSBT, cause from what ive seen you would fill up the page with delicious line texture. Not original enough, mayybeeee true youre still workin on that. And youre quite new here, maybe that too. But not skilled enough? PFfffffffffffff quit jokin with me. Everybody would lick it off their screens by lookin at it. Crisp quality. Maybe some anatomy flaws here and there, but shit. You learn fast. Full of effort every time.

And yeah its fun. Probably one of those things that actually makes me feel that im contributing to NG next to last years munny project. Ive had some few friends qualified for the project, but they never seem to have time/money to join :( Next time, you should join. Then i really mean it. Go grab it when you see it, believe me. Itll be harder next time cause of its fast growing popularity. Try again next year theres a good chance for you :)

Oh so I should not be concerned about Some of the verious errors I would be making during the process because when I doodle some of the things I have seen in my eyes and then on to the paper I've noticed sometimes That God damn it fuck me none of this looks even exactly like the thing i'm drawing even though it shares some similurities It comes out different when I draw them Free hand.
I would not know where to find these different techniques exactly.

I noticed some of the qualities have gotten a little bit cleaner and a little less sloppier with my lines.

Aug. 22, 2008 | 6:30 PM Hammi responds:

You dont even need to think that hard about the errors you make when you doodle. Remember that your sketchbook is supposed to be your own personal collection that no one needs to see. Forget the fancy shansy thing. Let me just let ya know that people shouldnt be thinking like "im not drawing unless i do something of worth and good enough...". Thats just self destructive, or rather like a giant boulder in your way. So dont let it get you down. And if you really do find your doodles lacking of skills, then all thats left for you is to keep doing it. Practice and practice on the same concept if you didnt like it in the first place. You must be sure of yourself that you can do better when doing this. Also an important thing is to variate, take a break from a concept and move on to another. Another thing, that no one, to date from what ive heard, is that perfect to draw straight from the mind. Never will probably. The human mind is so foggy that a million things run around in your head trying to comprehend the visual display that you have. You just gotta do your best and try gettin it down on paper or digital program. And techniques, you find them in tuts that float around at art sites and even blogs. Important thing is also, that you know what style youre going after. You know the basics right, now you just gotta enhance/warm up and dress up your line art with your preferred style. It has to be a clean style with a twist of your own. Enhance it then make good use of it. Then after some time, you will have even more bigger changes to your style, leaving your early stage to a more advanced level.

Just keep it up. Youre saying your lines have gotten cleaner, and thats def an improvement. Thats how it works. It means that youve managed to grasp your skills a lil more than last time, this is something youve acquired from practicing. And itll keep goin on and on like that. :)
